In the case of dying or death, there are a variety of factors that may be very important to deal with including, among others:

  • Attitudes and coping methods to chronic illness can make things worse, such as hatred of life or of God, or blaming other people for one’s difficulties or denial; or coping in ways that make things worse, such as substance abuse
  • Chronic illness can become exhausting for the caretaker, and can result in compassion fatigue. In some cases, the caretaker can become ill as a result
  • Children can learn things from a sick parent, such believing that their parents don’t care for them, or learned helplessness
  • A sick child can either learn a great deal or become disempowered for the long term
  • Illness or a dying family member can result in dysfunctional family dynamics, such a family member picking up death energy and they end up feeling for the long term like they have a foot in the grave
  • When a family member is sick or has died, it can result in a great deal of guilt, with a family member thinking that they’re to blame for the difficulties
  • Assisting a family member to cross over. Some have difficulty leaving or someone doesn’t want them to leave.
